Ulverton Road
A hugely sloping site on a new build property with the main brief requesting a good seating area for entertaining. Due to the aspect the rear of the house faces south east so the bulk of the afternoon sun shines down the back of this garden in the evening.
We created a covered seating space under a newly built bioclimatic pergola, which also features a gas, remote-controlled fire for year-round use. The automated roof allows plenty of additional sunlight in when required at the push of a button. We also created a garden bar and outdoor kitchen beside the pergola to allow all guests to stay in the same space at all times, looking back up the garden. Large floating steps and lush planting draw the eye down the garden and back up and a super lighting scheme bring the whole space to life in the darker hours of the day. All works were carried out with access down a 1m wide side passage with huge excavations to allow us to get the levels desired to make this garden into what it is today
